On Monday 30th November our S+T+ARTS open call “City of the future” ended. The project, supported by Fondazione Compagnia di San Paolo and the European Commission, is the first initiative within the context of the S+T+ARTS Project in Piedmont.
First of all, we would like to thank all the artists, creatives and collectives from all over Europe who applied to the open call, from Italy and France, to Germany, UK, Spain and Portugal.
We were also amazed by the variety of artistic researches and approaches of the submissions, which span from visual to installation art, from performative to community based practice. All these different languages are set to cooperate with the one proposed by the tech and scientific partners, such as AI, robotics, blockchain, to name a few.
The quality and quantity of the submitted applications represent a great achievement for us, being this a pilot project. We would have never reached this milestone alone, thus we are thankful for the support received from our cultural and tech partners in Italy, as well as from the organisations within the S+T+ARTS project across Europe.
The next steps
Through December the submitted proposals will be first evaluated by the tech and scientific partners, which will assign a feasibility vote; the Jury Panel will evaluate and choose the three winners, which will be announced by the end of January 2021.
The S+T+ARTS Project in Piedmont, however, does not end with the open call: on February 2021 we will launch the S+T+ARTS Prize for Social Good, addressed to Italian artists; then, in May 2021, we will organise the Urban Future Fest in Turin, a final event open to the city, during which we will share the results of the above initiatives.
